Roberto Carlos reveals why Ronaldinho never fulfilled his full potential

John Obi Mikel: "Why isn't Ronaldinho mentioned alongside Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Ronaldo Nazário? How good was he, and why isn't he always in that conversation?"

Roberto Carlos: "Ronaldinho knew his limits. When he reached his peak, I think he just wanted to have fun. He didn't want to be a professional in the same way anymore. He thought, 'I'm going to keep playing football, but I'm also going to enjoy my life.'

He had already achieved everything in football. People loved him everywhere he went. I don't think it was really about the parties. I think it was more that he became tired of carrying that responsibility and always having to prove he was one of the best."

John Obi Mikel: "So it wasn't a lack of ability?"

Roberto Carlos: "No. He wanted to slow down and enjoy life a little more. That's what stopped him from reaching his absolute full potential. Even so, he'll always be remembered as one of the greatest players in football history."

Ayanda Thusini calls himself a "daddy's boy."

After all, his father, Siphiwe, spent as much time with him as possible.

Even at 20, Ayanda knew if he needed his dad, he would always answer.

On Friday night, he called out to him more than ten times from mere metres away. 

But Siphiwe Thusini didn't - and couldn't - respond.

He was lying face down, outside his gate.

Lifeless.

Ayanda didn't get the reply he wished for.

His father's once-soothing voice had now been replaced by the sound of his wailing relatives.

Siphiwe was ambushed as he returned to his KwaMashu K-section home.

Gunmen mercilessly shot him at close range.

His phone, key, car, and all valuables were untouched.

The homecooked meal from his mother, which he’d just fetched, remained in the car.

His attackers ran off, with their brutal mission accomplished. 

But the broken house window and chipped boundary wall - struck by bullets - revealed something.

The dogged intent to kill him.

Thabani, his brother, says Siphiwe told his family he was being followed last week.

All while he was driving an anti-illegal immigration campaign in KwaMashu.

Speculation is rife about the motive behind his assassination.

Some are asking if he was murdered by the foreign nationals he forced to leave the township.

But preliminary information from sources suggests the murder may be linked to the "protection fee" mafia.

As the number of foreign shop owners dwindles, so does the income of extortionists.

Officially, though, police say they are still trying to establish the motive.

Since Siphiwe was also politically active, his case was quickly picked up by the PKTT.

As of Sunday, investigations were already well-underway with several leads available. 

Siphiwe Thusini is expected to be laid to rest this coming weekend.
