A New Name. A New Charge. The Same Taxpayer Pays!

The Congress brand of governance in Karnataka has found its latest innovation: “Software Tax.”

GBA is now adding a “software charge” of ₹200 for residential properties and ₹1,000 for commercial buildings to the annually collected property tax.

What exactly are citizens paying for? Why should people separately fund the government’s software system? Where is the legal basis, cost breakup and public accountability?

Is this not another bill pushed onto taxpayers without a clear explanation? Is this not looting in broad daylight?

For @INCKarnataka and @DKShivakumar, every new excuse to generate money seems to end at the same destination: the taxpayer’s pocket.

Justify the levy or withdraw the charge!

Today my daughter’s school bus took 2 hours to travel just 2 km in Varthur/Gunjur road.

For those 2 hours, I sat there as a parent feeling completely helpless.

I work hard. My wife and I pay lakhs in taxes every month. We took a huge home loan mainly so we could live close to our daughter’s school and give her a safer, easier childhood.

And yet, this is what “2 km from school” means here.

In the last year alone, we have seen a school bus topple, a woman suffer serious injuries after a fall, a biker almost lost his life after falling because of a pothole, and many more incidents that never become headlines.

Every day, ordinary people here tweet, email, complain, follow up and plead with authorities.

We are not activists.
We are not fighting for a political party.
We are parents, employees, families and taxpayers asking for one basic thing:

Please give our children a safe road to come home on.

Today, more than the traffic, what broke me was the feeling that despite doing everything a responsible citizen is supposed to do, I had absolutely no power to protect my own child.

If anyone knows how ordinary citizens of Varthur/Gunjur can reach someone with the authority to actually intervene, please help us.

If that is true, the bigger question is: WHO owns the vehicle, and who handed it over to an unlicensed driver?

The driver may be off the road for now, but unless the owner is identified and held accountable, he could be back behind the wheel by tonight or tomorrow.

I’ve been watching an ambulance stuck in traffic for an hour and genuinely don’t know what you’re supposed to do in a situation like this especially when people have no civic sense about how to drive in peak rain!

There’s metro construction and apparently you just have to accept that something could fall on your head at any given moment!

Yes Bangalore has talent. Yes it has startups. Yes it has great weather sometimes. But what is the point of building the future when getting across the city feels like surviving some apocalypse?!

I have never honked this much in my entire life for an ambulance to cross and btw it took me like 1.5hr to just cross 7km!

●Answer lies in Major Office Buildings, Apartments & Schools, that had come up even on 20 feet road & absence of major roads.
●Merciless Road widening with demolition of bigger illegal Buildings shall work
● GBA needs to be exanded fast by atleast twice that of current one to include all these SCAM Panchayats.
