Three Dogs Roasted Alive in a Hot Car While Their Owners Played Golf — The “Responsible” Owner Got 100 Hours Unpaid Work and Can Still Keep Animals.
Company director Sarah Sharkey left four Irish Setters Brodie, Sorcha, Seren and Barclay locked inside a vehicle for two hours in Colney Heath on 4 July 2025 while she and her husband Brendan went to play golf.
By the time they returned, three of the dogs had already roasted to death. Seren was barely alive and needed emergency veterinary care.
Sharkey, a reported pet sitter and breeder, admitted four counts of causing unnecessary suffering to protected animals.
Her punishment?
A 12-month community order with just 100 hours of unpaid work and £85 in costs.
She was not banned from keeping animals. Magistrates said she had been “a responsible and competent dog owner for many years.”
What kind of justice is this?
Three dogs suffered and died a horrific death because their owners chose golf over their lives on a hot day. The car turned into an oven. They trusted the people meant to protect them.
And the consequences? A slap on the wrist and permission to keep animals again.
What sort of determination led to that decision? What message does it send that dogs lives are disposable as long as you’ve been “responsible” in the past?
This isn’t justice. It’s an insult to every animal that suffers because someone puts convenience first.
Share this. Demand better. These dogs deserved far more than this pathetic outcome.
Two beautiful Red Setters were left shut in a hot car on Saturday the hottest day of the heatwave while their owners went and played golf.
They died in there.
According to reports, police said they’d issue a statement… and then went quiet. Now people are worried nothing will happen.
Let that sink in.
Two living, breathing dogs probably trusting their humans right up until the end suffered and died because someone decided a round of golf mattered more than their lives.
We all know how fast a car turns into an oven in July. We’ve all seen the warnings. There is no excuse.
These weren’t “mistakes.” This was a choice.
If the police and RSPCA don’t follow through with proper action here, what message does that send? That our dogs’ lives are disposable when it’s inconvenient for us?
I’m angry. I’m heartbroken for those dogs. And I’m tired of seeing this happen every summer with barely a slap on the wrist.
Some people shouldn’t own a budgie, let alone dogs.
What sort of moron leaves two animals locked in a car on one of the hottest days of the year? Those poor dogs didn’t just die they suffered and baked to death.
It’s cruel, it’s utterly irresponsible, and there is simply no excuse for it.
What do you think should happen to the owners?
I certainly think there should be servers consequences including imprisonment.
Christians are being hunted like animals in Nigeria.
An Islamist group invaded a Christian village and started shooting everyone in sight.
They are killing Christians on Eid and offering them as human sacrifices.
The media remains silent.

For 47yrs the people of Iran are being slaughtered by the regime and it didn't matter to you, not a peep, not a post, not a damn thing. You said nothing
Now the US steps in and suddenly you've found your voice.
So it was never about Iran
It was always about hating America.
GTFOH
Age of marriage under the monarchy was 18....current regime changed it to 13 and down to 8 with a judges approval.
Nothing you can say will change this fact. Same people condemning an evil man like Epstein, simultaneously support 13 year old (down to 8) legal marriage (up to 4 since Iran allows polygamy).
@tasmime_kobra You had to make an AI image of an "anti war protest" because that's how much everyone does want outside help both inside and outside the country.
Get lost.
