Been doing customer service for Lint as a founder for a while now. I have an engineering background so this is my first foray into the field. I have to say, well done to everyone who does this. It’s extremely difficult. The most prevailing complement we get as a business is that our customer service is great which is strange cause half the time, I want to beat the customers.
I’ve noticed that northerners are very polite and patient when they reach out about an issue. They provide very detailed reports with screenshots & they’re very grateful when issues are resolved. Users shouldn’t have to do this. When there’s an issue, we need to take responsibility and show remorse but it’s always nice when the customer is courteous.
Now you see Lagos customers? Two minutes delay in a payment and they start calling us thieves 😭. I personally hate it but I have to keep my cool (again well done to everyone who does this job). I also understand this behavior from the first time I visited the city. People are always on the offensive because they assume everyone else is trying to cheat them.
Anyways, I’m now even more conscious of how I interact as a customer. I’m a lot more gracious to businesses when there are issues. Building things are difficult, especially when you’re doing it in Nigeria. It’s not just software businesses, it’s hotels, schools etc. Two of my friends swore never to visit a particular fancy hotel again because of the customer service. This is a hotel that has spent billions of naira to build and operate.
The people who do this job are very important, these are the faces of the business, the contact points. How they interact with customers can make or break a business. A great customer service staff doesn’t just resolve a support ticket, they retain the customer, they build trust.
Our favorite lint users are the ones who signed up early, when the app had more bugs than features but still stuck with us because we reassured them every time. Today, the app is much much better because of them.
As a former engineer who now works in customer support, my takeaway from the last few months is to always prioritize bug tickets.
I think the amount of rats in lagos is a problem that needs to be studied and solved
I know people talk a lot about NY and it's rat problems but lagos is the most I've seen
Thank you for saving me the time and stress it takes to go out.
@LintFinance automation of my bill payments is my Favorite service.
Well done brother 👏
I just had gas delivered to me at home (it ran out while I was making oats). I have gas deliveries scheduled every 6 weeks on the lint app. It automatically saves up the money that covers this and my many other expenses & then goes ahead to pay them for me.
I started building @LintFinance cause I’m financially reckless & was always running out of money before essential bills were due. Now everything is scheduled - electricity, data, stipends for the laundry guy & my tennis coach, my sister’s pocket money, my aunt’s data… everything. If I run out of money during the month, it’s only suya that will suffer. Light go still dey.
Even my subscriptions are settled there (using a virtual card). My bank card is for oblee.
