BTS announces they will not submit their music for the 2027 GRAMMY awards, following the Recording Academy’s addition of an Asian-focused category:
“I hope music itself can be heard and loved rather than being distinguished by region or language.”
BTS and HYBE's statement!
"We find it difficult to accept that this change in the Grammys' judging was made at a time when BTS was considered to have the highest chance of winning the main award." However, HYBE stated, "This is not a boycott at the company level." One official said, "If other artists from the same affiliation wish to participate, they will proceed as scheduled."
[INFO] Many critics of the South Korean industry support #BTS's decision! 🇰🇷🔥
Im Jin-mo, a popular music critic assessed BTS's decision not to submit to the Grammys as "a declaration of musical independence that breaks the chains of Western-centric authority, and a restoration of subjectivity."
Critic Lim Jin-mo, who has consistently served as a commentator for the Grammy Awards, pointed, "While the Grammys put forward the justification of diversity for the newly established 'APMP' category, it is essentially a defensive and somewhat racist attempt to isolate K-pop into a peripheral category in order to protect the vested interests of mainstream music."
Lee Kyu-tak, a professor at George Mason University Korea and Director of the Global K-Center, pointed out that for BTS, who have achieved various accomplishments musically, commercially, and culturally, the Grammys tended to be regarded as "the ultimate goal they had to achieve." He noted, "It is true that whenever the Grammys came around, discussions about whether they would win consistently circulated among the media and fans, and there was a belief that they would only be 'truly' recognized in the United States if they won a Grammy."
However, the analysis noted, "The Grammys' creation of a separate 'APMP' award was tantamount to a declaration that Asian music (including K-pop and non-Western/non-English music) would be treated separately from the Grammys' 'main stage.' This implies that BTS, who are already established as musicians not only in Korea and the U.S. but globally, do not necessarily need to obsess over the Grammys." It continued, "Given that there would undoubtedly be debate among the media and fans regarding whether they accept the award or not under these circumstances, their voluntary refusal is significant in that it allows them to distance themselves from various controversies while clearly expressing their opposition to the Grammys treating non-Western/non-English music as a form of segregation."
Critic Im Jin-mo interprets BTS's recent decision as a resistance chosen instead of compromise in the face of the Grammys' conservatism, which prioritizes ratings and buzz while withholding fair evaluation. He viewed the decision not to submit as "a complete 'declaration of independence' from Grammy authority, signifying that they will no longer force K-pop's identity to conform to American standards."
Critic Lim also highlighted the potential impact that BTS's decision is expected to create. He pointed out, "Just as The Weeknd's past declaration of a Grammy boycott stirred up public opinion in the local music industry, the fact that a single Asian artist has rebelled against a massive awards ceremony and opened a forum for public discourse demanding change demonstrates immense influence in itself."
#WeStandWithBTS
🐰: i went to see ‘hope’ by myself, and i happened to run into a few fans on the way out.
🐰: i took some pictures with them. and i mean,, taking photos with people is totally fine. i have no problem with that!
🐰: but, i had gone into a bakery to buy some bread, and all of a sudden there was someone standing right in front of me with a camera pointed at me like this…
🐰: i don’t really think that’s very respectful.
🐰: i don’t care how old you are or where you’re from… just sticking a camera in someone’s face like that… i felt that was kind of rude. so, if this somehow reaches that person…
🐰: you know, the other fans asked if it was okay to take a picture first. i happily took photos with them, and i enjoyed my bread and coffee and went home
🐰: anyway, ‘hope’ was really fun. i really enjoyed it.
🐰 : “Ahhh, right! I went to the Stray Kids concert yesterday because of Bang Chan, and I ended up with Felix's sunglasses 😂 I gave them back after the show, though. I handed them to Chan during the meet & greet, so you'll probably see Felix wearing them again.”
he said he was shocked and was like “how did it comes towards me”
dokyeom will enlist this september 😭
🐰i really wanna tell you about this.. the official announcement will come out soon. i’ll be enlisting in the military this september... i really wanted to tell this to carats first
Jungkook at Stray Kids’ concert today.
A wholesome moment. Felix’s sunglasses landed in front of Jungkook’s manager after being thrown into the crowd. Jungkook put them on with a smile, and everyone around him couldn’t stop laughing.
armys just got labelled a ‘criminal organization’ like sorry the money we raised for children’s education, breast cancer awareness, the blm movement, unicef, multiple disaster reliefs, and many many more charitable causes came from the mafia lmfaooo

the timeline mentioned in their fifa vlog is actually insane:
-paris concert ended at 10:30 pm
-they were already at the airport by 11:00 pm
-flew to new york at 11:55 pm
-arrived and went straight to rehearsal at 8:10 am with zero sleep
-started getting ready for fifa at 12 pm
-wrapped filming behind the scenes and reached the venue at 3 pm
-performed at 4 pm
they crossed continents overnight, going straight from two back to back sold out concerts in paris to performing on the world’s biggest stage in new york with no rest. oh my bangtan, their unwavering dedication, discipline and relentless work ethic are the very reasons they’ve reached the heights they’re at today.
"Because you have the demeanor of a man with burden of leadership and how to use his power in a conscientious way. And I wondered how do you deal with the loneliness that comes with being a leader." What. A. Question.

BELLA INTRODUCTION FOR NAMJOON AND LOOK AT HIS HUGE SMILE WITH DIMPLES OF PRIDE 😭😭😭
🗣️: "You're the leader of #BTS, one of the biggest bands of all time, and you've sold over 40 million albums, and you're the only band since the Beatles to have three number one albums in a year"
Namjoon used an analogy of how leadership is like everyone laying on the couch but the door was open and one person has to sacrifice the comfort and warmth of the couch to close the door, and for all the times he takes the lead when BTS were in unfamiliar territory, I teared up.
