These days a lot of finfluencers post everything about a stock except its name. Chart with the ticker scrubbed, CMP, a breakout claim, and then: "guess it"
But I was genuinely just curious what the stocks actually were.
So I started screenshotting them and pasting them into the AI I'm building. No ticker, no name. Just the blurred chart and whatever numbers were in the post, and one question: which stock is this?
Every single time, it came back with the right one.
That's not a clever prompt. That's the data layer underneath it. Price history, financials, ratings, technicals and flows for ~8,200 NSE and BSE companies, structured well enough that a model can reason across all of it at once.
We spent a long time building that layer before building anything on top of it. Our stock research MCP server is already the best one in India. TapeAi, our own AI harness on the same data, is the next milestone. And it's getting sharper every week.
The goal is simple: India's best stock research AI.
If you're still doing stock research the old way, come try it.
Closing Auction Session (CAS): What's Changing
Exchanges are rolling out a Closing Auction Session for F&O stocks — not a new idea globally, NYSE and LSE already run similar closing auctions.
Right now, a stock's closing price in India = VWAP of the last 30 mins of trading. Under CAS, buy/sell orders get pooled and matched at one single equilibrium price instead.
Why the change:
Passive index funds place large orders near the close to match index weights — this can move prices while executing, adding tracking error.
Large last-minute orders can disproportionately swing closing prices (and indices) — CAS pools everything into one match, making it harder to influence the close.
New market timings:
F&O stocks: continuous trading stops at 3:15 PM → moves to CAS
Non-F&O stocks: trade till 3:30 PM as usual
Index/stock F&O contracts: trade till 3:40 PM
So yeah, three different "closing times" depending on what you're trading — expect some confusion here.
Honest bit: since broking is now listed and under more scrutiny — this will likely dent brokerage revenue by roughly 1–5%.
The bigger near-term headache is explaining why different parts of the market close at different times. Brace for the questions 😅
The largest shareholder of Titan is not the Tata Group. It's the Tamil Nadu government.
TIDCO holds 27.88%. The Tata group holds 25.02%.
Titan was set up in 1984 as a joint venture between the Tatas and the state of
Tamil Nadu. The state put in 26% at inception and forty years later has never sold.
A screener shows you one "promoter holding" number. It hides this entirely.
Which other Indian company do you know where the operator isn't the largest owner?
