I am so sad this evening. I came home from picking my niece up from work and she told me their pet bird died in a horrific way. After dropping her off I then came to a recently deceased black fluffy cat in the road. I was devastated. I turned around and parked in front of his little body with my flashers on. I got out of my car my hands shaking. I could tell he was already gone. I was gone for merely an hour and he was not there when I left the house earlier. I stooped down on my heels and touched his little body. Blood matted his once soft fur and he was still warm. If I would have been here sooner maybe I could have done something? Anything?! Some asshole literally just hit him and left him all alone on the side on the road. I pulled his little body into the shoulder just to keep him from becoming further plastered on to the pavement. I cried and my hands shook. The pavement was covered in blood. My heart hurts so much to think of his final moments alone in the road. I wonder if he was scared, if he had a family who loved him. I pet his little head and got back into my car and screamed at the top of my lungs. I screamed until I ran out of air and then I screamed some more. I hurt for him. Life is so unkind to the littlest creatures. I so tired of humans failing animals, over and over again. If you love your cats please, please keep them inside. Rip little black kitty. I hope you know you truly weren’t alone. 🐈‍⬛😔🖤
