WE DID IT 🎉❤️ — Tonight we passed the nation’a first real countywide Fair Chance Housing law in Alameda County!!!
Here’s what went down at the Alameda County Board meeting tonight:
On the Alameda County Board of Supervisors Vote Decision (2/28) to NOT pass the Wilma Chan Fair Chance Housing ordinance. If passed, this ordinance would have restored housing rights to formerly incarcerated people in the county.
And while you're there, our allies at My Eden Voice are pushing for tenant protections for unincorporated Alameda County, and those items are being heard RIGHT AFTER the eviction moratorium, so please stay on to support more tenant protections!
URGENT: Call the Alameda County Board of Supervisors to demand the safe release of the @Moms4Housing and the immediate passage of the full tenant protection package!
Call Supervisors
• Tam at 510-272-6693,
• Miley at 510-272-6694, and
• Carson at 510-272-6695!
@hyphy_republic Did they say when they would resume the meeting? Also is the item for Fair Chance Housing Ordinance item also being delayed? They muted the last minutes of the meeting on Zoom before going into closed session
Demand the Alameda County Board of Supervisors protect tenants in unincorporated Alameda County! We need folks to call and email the Board of Supervisors, and then give public comment at their Tuesday meeting! https://t.co/baEwAFLHiH
After surviving the brutality of the U.S. prison system, Ai now faces the possibility of deportation back to Cambodia, where he has never set foot. He's not the only one.

Thank you to Maria, Peejay, Ke, and Chanthon for sharing their stories! 🔥
They're supporting people coming home from prison & organizing folks with @AsianPrisonerSC, while hoping for pardons to prevent their own deportations.

One of our Fair Chance Housing advocates, Katie Dixon, tells her story of how this law allowed her to sign a lease and escape homelessness. Thanks to last night’s vote, more people across Alameda County will now be able to share a similar path.
