Hard truth:
If someone still says BIM isn’t necessary,
they’re ignoring where construction is going.
The industry is changing.

Happy New Month from Just Design
Welcome to March, a new month to design boldly, think creatively, and build with purpose.
Let’s keep learning, growing, and shaping the future of the construction industry together.
In construction, speed gets applause, but collaboration builds legacy.
The most successful projects aren’t built by the fastest individual, they’re built by aligned teams.

In construction, simplicity improves clarity, efficiency, and execution.

Being good on site isn’t enough.
If you don’t understand finances and contracts,
you’re building risk, not wealth.
Construction is a business first.

Deadlines aren’t missed because teams lack skill.
They’re missed because teams don’t collaborate early enough.
In construction, strong collaboration is what keeps projects on track, helps teams meet deadlines, and positions firms for new opportunities
Happy New Year from all of us at Just Design
Here’s to new ideas, bold creativity, and building the future of design together in 2026. Thank you for being part of our journey!
As we step into a new month, may the days ahead bring renewed energy, fresh opportunities, and continued progress for us all. Let’s keep building, learning, and creating together!
Admission Pathways in the built environment with Prof. Dapo Oluwatayo
During the Design summer camp, Prof. Dapo Oluwatayo shared about:
- Courses in the built environment
- Admission pathways and how to choose your course of study
- Career pathways in the built environment
She also shared on some tips to make the best out of your chosen career:
- Be resourceful: The built environment thrives on creativity and problem-solving. Learn to maximize materials, tools, and opportunities around you.
- Develop your passion: Passion fuels persistence. The more you nurture your genuine interest, the more resilient and innovative you become.
- Learn relevant digital skills: From design software to emerging tech, digital tools are now essential for efficiency and staying competitive.
- Get organized: Structure your time, tasks, and projects. Organization builds clarity, reduces stress, and boosts productivity.
The built environment is full of various opportunities and every great career starts with a first step, start with the right choices and right habits
Defining your career in the design ecosystem with Dr. Abraham Owoseni
During the Design summer camp, Dr. Abraham shared 3 things that could hinder finding your career path
- Comparing yourself to others: Your strengths, talents, and journey are unique. What works for your classmate or neighbor may not be your path. Comparison only distracts you from your true direction.
- Following popular opinion: Trends come and go, but purpose stays. Choosing a path because “everyone is doing it” might lead you away from where you’re truly meant to be.
- Negative peer pressure/cohesion: Letting others force or pressure you into choices will only create dissatisfaction. Your career and life path should come from conviction, not coercion.
So carefully decide which path you want to follow.
Think of it this way: your career is the rail line, but your purpose is the destination. When you choose the right path, your career becomes the vehicle that takes you where you were truly meant to go.
Creating your vision board with Arc. Folakemi Odesola
During the design summer camp program, Arc. Folakemi shared her experience on her vision to solve problems through design
Every great transformation starts with a vision.
A vision board isn’t just a collage of images, it’s a powerful tool that helps you visualize who you want to be, what you want to do, and the life you want to create.
By putting your goals in front of you, they become more tangible, more believable, and more achievable.
Have you ever thought of building a vision board before? what’s the one thing you believe it will help you achieve?
Maximizing productivity with @FuntoIbuoye
Focusing on interior design during the summer camp, Funto shared that the productivity level of a person/team is maximized with a good spatial design.
Thoughtful space planning isn’t just about arranging chairs and tables, it’s about creating an environment that fuels focus, creativity, and efficiency.
From vibrant colors that energize the users of each space, to layouts that reduce distractions, every design choice shapes performance.
Does your current environment inspire productivity, or is it time for a refresh?
Thank you, Future Designers! ✨
The Design Summer Camp 2025 by @gbenga_alalade brought together different teenagers from different regions, for 3 inspiring days of learning, creativity and discovery.
Through hands-on sessions in:
- Spatial & Built Environment Design
- Product, Industrial & Engineering Design
- Digital, Media & Visual Communication Design
- Fashion & Textile Design
…students gained clarity, confidence, and even dabbled with their first ever design projects.
We are proud of every participant who showed up with curiosity and left with purpose.
This is more than a camp — it’s the beginning of a movement to reimagine the future of design education in Africa.
