So Kamala Harris is not "just a DEI Hire" who "took somebody else's job". She is a highly qualified woman of color who got the sponsorship she needed to get the job she deserved.
If you think this is appropriate, it must follow that you believe women of color are inherently less capable than their counterparts. That is the textbook definition of sexism and racism.
If you don't believe these biases exist, look at the demographic data for almost any industry and you'll see that women of color are woefully underrepresented in leadership.
Let's talk about this "DEI hire" nonsense.
When Joe Biden selected Kamala Harris (and Ketanji Brown Jackson, too) for her job as VP, he put intention into making sure she got position she deserved.
DEI aims to correct for bias by ensuring that *qualified* candidates from underrepresented groups get the level of consideration they historically have not gotten.
Without this intention, she risked being passed over despite her objectively strong qualifications because of the biases against women and people of color that can exist among those in positions of power.
@AmericanAir maybe it's time to stop being silly and invest in luggage sizers that actually line up with what will fit overhead? https://t.co/NCtijbdnov
