WINGS is BTS's second full-length Korean studio album, following The Most Beautiful Moment in Life series. It marked a new chapter in their exploration of youth, taking their storytelling into the complicated territory of temptation, desire, guilt, identity, and growing up.

According to Big Hit's official album description, WINGS tells the story of seven boys encountering temptation for the first time, experiencing both pain and bliss as they struggle with their choices. They are compared to birds breaking out of their shells and attempting to fly for the first time.
