@GrowingUpRetro That wax candy with kool-aid in it, trading cards from tv shows and movies like Star Wars, Charlie’s Angels. And is there still a Teen Beat magazine? Maybe not the corner store but you could buy a 45 rpm record (7”) with your babysitting money.
@GrowingUpRetro How to load the ink ribbon in a typewriter or how about use the ditto machine to make copies? Take the nestea plunge, label cabinets or files with a dymo label maker, understand how to find books in a huge library by card catalog, develop pictures from film negatives.
@GrowingUpRetro Paper gallon milk cartons. AM/FM radio. Wallpaper. Metal ice cube trays. Betty Crocker or Better Homes cookbook, recipe box, (green) wall phone with a 20’ spiral cord, phone book, address book in the junk drawer.
@FreddyLA7 My German ancestors settled mostly in Cincinnati. The food, culture, music was part of normal family life growing up. I always regarded Cincinnati as the most German area in the country. Didn’t know about these places in TX. Love finding out about them.
