โThere will always be leaders โ the issue is whether they are the leaders called and gifted by God to shepherd his flock or those who push themselves forward so that they can push others around.โ

@brettmoore Just read a quote this morning from Samuel Blair, a pastor who lived in the Middle Colonies in 1740.
"Religion lay as it were a-dying and ready to expire its last breath of life in this part of the visible church."
He said this just a few months before the Great Awakening.
The miracle of salvation isnโt seeing a sinner become convinced that heaven is better than hell, but seeing God transform a sinner through grace to see that following Jesus is better than following self
The Button Willow General Store in Smithville, TN, not only has great coffee and atmosphere, but the coffee cups are the best ever. #localcoffee#smithvilletn
@ethicist That's a good word. I recently preached that the difference between the Rich Young Ruler and Zacchaeus is that one was seeking heaven, the other was seeking Jesus. Big difference!

I was sitting on our covered back porch early this morning as a violent thunderstorm rolled in. In the midst of all the wind, thunder, and lightening, I could hear countless birds singing away.
If we could only trust Christ enough to sing with joy during the storms
Iโve never understood why @starbucks doesnโt have a separate line for those just wanting plain coffee. The line would clear out so fast! #mondaymorning
Over the years Iโve discovered that I typically preach my best when ironically working through the most difficult and obscure passages of Scripture.
Then Iโm reminded that I spend more time in prayer, study, and reflection on these texts. Why not do that for all?
So good to visit with our new Hispanic church plant in Jefferson City this evening. Pastor Waldhys is doing a wonderful job proclaiming the gospel and teaching the Scriptures. Soli Deo Gloria! @FBC_Dandridge
"To love God is to love and long for holiness. To embrace inappropriately that which is unholy constitutes a withdrawal from God, God's gospel, God's ways, God's people, and God's true mission in the world" - George Guthrie, 2 Corinthians (BECNT)
