Tennesseans are frustrated — and the data backs it up.
💡 Most say utilities eat more than 10% of their monthly budget.
🏠 25% frequently worry about rent or mortgage.
🛣️ 80% say roads aren't being maintained.

"TN just delivered one of the clearest signals yet that the era of certificate-of-need protectionism may be ending....[replacing] the old permission-slip regime with a straightforward licensure process..."

At @BeaconTN, we have made it our business to listen to our fellow Tennesseans about their biggest challenges. Here's what we've learned from them.

@TheNashvillian@pamelafurr@Starbucks@BeaconTN Use Google much? If and when incentives are offered Paramount, we'll have something to say just like we always have.

The NEA wants you to believe Tennessee's education system is failing because it doesn't spend enough. There's just one problem: the data says otherwise.
This map shows NAEP 4th-grade reading points earned per $1,000 of per-pupil spending. Tennessee leads the entire nation at 17.7 points. New York, which spends roughly three times as much, earns 6.2—about a third of what Tennessee gets.
More money ≠ better outcomes. Tennessee has proven that targeted, strategic investment in early literacy, academic summer programming, and school choice is what actually moves the needle.

@TheNashvillian@pamelafurr@Starbucks .@BeaconTN has literally criticized corporate welfare - including stadium subsidies - since 2004, the first year we existed. We once even created a whole website documenting these deals, & the only reason clawback provisions are mandated is because we fought for them.
When I was at @TNGOP (the first time around) we needed to flip two senate seats to take the majority for the first time since reconstruction. Jim was one of the two and I still remember getting the phone call from him on Election Night, and then he ended up at our election night party in Nashville, way later that night. There was a photo of us (along with Bob Davis and others) celebrating in the @Tennessean the next day. Jim was a dynamo candidate and truly outworked every other candidate in the state. It was especially satisfying because he had run for house two years before and I was helping on that race as well. I first met @JustinDOwen and @clinthall79 on that race, both of whom are still friends to this day. RIP Senator Jim Tracy.
Tennessee Runs on Nuclear. Almost Nobody Knows It.
Roughly 40% of the state’s electricity comes from nuclear power!
The fears that linger are mostly inherited.

The U.S. Supreme Court just docketed @BeaconTN's fourth petition for review in the last year. We represent the family of Roberto Clemente and ask SCOTUS to hold that the Constitution protects intangible property like trademarks just as much as it protects tangible property.
If you believe government should do less and Tennesseans should do more, we've got a job for you. Beacon is looking for a Government Relations Manager to help turn free-market ideas into law. Apply at https://t.co/eU4C9vlRdi
As we celebrate America's 250th birthday, we're reflecting on what makes this country exceptional, and it's not Washington, D.C. It's the 50 states— the "laboratories of democracy" the founders envisioned, where ideas compete, and people vote with their feet.
Tennessee is one of those laboratories, and the wins we at Beacon have helped accomplish here are proof that the founding principles still work.
