NEW: Attorney General Letitia James refuses to answer questions about her social media post affirming the Cornell 7 rape allegations before she was appointed to investigate them.

REPORTER: "On your Facebook page three days ago, you wrote, 'What this young woman has been forced to endure is horrific and unacceptable... We stand with you.' Why did you affirm her allegations as fact without doing your own fact-finding investigation?"

HOCHUL: "I will answer that. I have every confidence in our attorney general to... look at the facts, examine the record, and draw the proper conclusions."

REPORTER: "Attorney General, please."

JAMES: "I will not comment on a Facebook post."

This was the exact moment Zuckerberg realized that he will be a massive winner in the AI race

OpenAI and Anthropic were desperately asking for regulation because tokens are being commoditized by open source alternatives

The only option for them was to keep reducing token costs to compete. The only problem? They already made commitments for hundreds of billions in capex.

At a certain price, the return on capital simply doesn’t make any sense

So they came to the realization that the only way to sustain their trillion dollar valuations was to either:

1. Become entrenched through regulation by preventing other models from gaining share

2. Fight up market and become vertically integrated by building platforms in the application layer

The second one is where Zuckerberg has a massive advantage vs both of the frontier model companies

He already has a massive user base with nearly a third of the entire world as monthly active users

He already has multiple platforms that are cash cows for his business, that also require very little capital investment each year

Meta could stop spending on their family of apps tomorrow and these platforms would still generate billions of free cash flow each year

In essence, he can subsidize losses on any AI platform, such as Muse, longer than any of his competitors can

This gives him time to simply just bleed out Anthropic and OpenAI, especially when it comes to the consumer facing application layer of AI

Trump refusing to give in to Dario and Sam’s requests is a massive win for Meta and Zuckerberg. That is why he can’t hold his smile here

“After James Talarico wins... we have to remind him that we are the force that allowed him to win this seat of power.”

NEW: RFK Jr. says Medicare spending on wound care patches exploded from $200 million in 2019 to $14 billion last year: "It's all stolen."

Bad actors billed Medicare billions by slapping the most expensive skin grafts on elderly and dying patients who didn't need them.

"The doctors who prescribed them would get 6% of the sales cost. And so, they were incentivized to prescribe more expensive products. In Europe, they spend 35 cents a cubic inch. We were spending $135, and that went up to $2,000 a cubic inch."

"So 2019, we were paying $200 million. Last year we spent 14 billion. All stolen. It's all stolen. And we were on track to spend 23 billion this year."

"We put an end to it, and we now have driven that cost down to somewhere around a billion dollars."

In one Arizona case, the owners of two wound care companies pleaded guilty to more than $1.2 billion in fraudulent claims. Medicare paid over $1 million per patient for grafts slapped on elderly patients who didn't need them, many of them dying in hospice.

In June, DOJ charged 11 more defendants over more than $2 billion in allograft claims, including a company accused of issuing sham invoices to inflate what Medicare paid.

It feels like every week I learn a new way people were ripping off taxpayers for billions.

🚨 🔥Virginia Foxx just forced every last mayor at the hearing to admit just how much they have spent on ILLEGAL aliens over just the last 4 years:

Chicago: $574.5 million
Denver: $79.0 million
New York City: $6.9 BILLION

Boston doesn't ask whether someone has citizenship status, so their numbers are a mystery, even to Mayor Wu.

Imagine what that money could've done for the AMERICANS that live in those cities.

Democrats put Americans as second tier in their own country. It's disgraceful.
