Fable and ChatGPT Sol still miss a lot - they don't understand the point of the decompiled code. But they can read it and answer my requests successfully, finally!

This game was really broken - but those are the graphics, sort of!

Decompilation turns finished machine code back into readable source. But names, types and intent are gone. Different recipes can bake into similar instructions. Plausible-looking answers can be completely wrong. Claude Opus 4 spent 10 million tokens trying to decompile it in 2025. The result used the graphics from the game, but Opus kept giving up and building it's own 'space game' from the wreckage.
