@justin_aptaker 7/12/2021
yesterday
or was it today? i can’t really tell
i saw God
more clearly than i’ve ever seen anything
She was
struggling to breath...

Wow! An excellent read!
"The Hidden Connection Between Information and Consciousness. The missing link between physics and experience may be simpler than we thought."

.
An interesting premise.
"Consciousness breaks from the physical world by keeping the past alive. [In other words], the consciousness of time distinguishes mind from matter"

In Process & Reality, Whitehead applies his category of concrescence both macro- and microcosmically. It applies as much to the largest as to the smallest, as much to the whole as to the parts. After all, in an organic realism the whole is itself a process of self-differentiation that enfolds a little wholeness into every one of its many parts.
Whitehead's process-relational ontology is radically perspectival. We can understand the actual world both in terms of its microcosmic genesis (ie, analyzing the process of concrescence) and in terms of its macrocosmic extensive connections (analyzing the mereotopological relations among the cumulative products of concrescence).
In other words, looking top-down at macro-concrescence we see God's conceptual prehension of eternal possibility and consequent memorialization of every actuality. Looking bottom-up at micro-concrescence we see the physical prehension by each finite occasion of God's initial aim toward relevant novelty.
As @vervaeke_john has argued, a good account of cosmogenesis is going to need to make reference to emanation as much as emergence. In my own Whiteheadian terms: evolution is not merely a material push from the past but the allurement of eternal possibility held in tension with a living memory of the emotional meaning of the past. We evolve by becoming new without becoming dismembered.
"Geometry is knowledge that appears to be produced by human beings, yet whose meaning is totally independent of them."

Remembered today why I don't shop at @kroger - My wife dragged me in there for something. It was very hot inside. There were wall-mounted fans for the cashiers.. but they were turned off. A customer had complained they were blowing her hair. @kroger treats employees like garbage.
“The day will come when, after harnessing space, the winds, the tides and gravitation, we shall harness for God the energies of love. And on that day, for the second time in the history of the world, we shall have discovered fire.” —Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

Jung often said to me--he said, "The human being who starts by withdrawing his own shadow from his neighbor is doing work of immense, immediate political and social importance."~Laurens van der Post
The article shared below by the Essentia Foundation (

) is the 4th in a series tantalizingly called "The Return of Metaphysics". After finishing the article, I believe I'll need to read the whole series at

The story of our falling for naive physical realism—the notion that we can become directly acquainted with non-mental entities, which are supposed to have standalone existence—and how modern thought is now bringing us back to more mature Idealism.

I've come to think perhaps the only thing unique to humans is our capacity and need to tell stories. This article provides yet more validation on how much we have in common with non-human animals.
The titular reference to a "simulation" seems to be mostly hype, but the overall hypothesis sounds intriguing, particularly because it can be falsified.

Astonishingly beautiful. I'm no Whitehead scholar, & I certainly didn't fully grasp everything presented. I guess I've looked into Whitehead's ideas just enough to be able to feel some of the grandeur of this thesis.
