A perspective I’d like to offer:

Muslims see America as collectively pagan.

When I was Muslim, I felt a theological mandate to invite people to know Allah.

Now that I’m Christian, that mandate hasn’t changed. But we have a severe problem…

Here is a question for advocates of libertarian free will that rarely gets a straight answer:

Two sinners hear the same Gospel.

Both are fallen.
Both are spiritually dead in sin.
Both receive the same outward call.
One believes in Christ.
The other rejects Him.

Why?

If you say, “Because one freely chose Christ,” you have only restated what happened. You haven’t explained why.

Was the believer wiser? More humble? More spiritually perceptive? Did he make better use of grace?

If the decisive difference is ultimately found in the sinner, then something in the sinner distinguishes him from the one who remains in unbelief.

But Paul asks:

“For who maketh thee to differ from another?” (1 Corinthians 4:7)

The Reformed answer is simple:

God makes the difference.

The sinner believes because God graciously opens the heart (Acts 16:14), grants repentance (2 Timothy 2:25), and grants faith in Christ (Philippians 1:29).

We believe willingly, but the reason one fallen sinner comes while another remains hardened is not that one used his autonomous will better.

It is grace.

“So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.” (Romans 9:16)
