What can we learn from President Carter's first week in hospice. What conversations have you had about your own wishes?
@CSPfellows@justlangporter reminds to have the difficult conversations now #palliativecare#hospice https://t.co/kllYO2vjht
#Police when you come to an #EMS scene your questions are not more important than our care for the injured pp.
Don't open the ambulance doors.
Do knock.
Do ask permission.
@returnofthegoth It’s an arms race between me and everyone else in the house: who can wake up earliest. If they are asleep they can fuck with my needs. So yes, sleep less.
In EMS every call is in shitty situation. Cardiac arrest in grocery store deli, respiratory arrest on a bridge, hypoglycemia in camper, trauma arrest in a hayfield, semi truck on a chest in a garage. I could go on. A hallway sounds nice to me!
Seeing how much the world accepts that it’s impossible to move on after watching CPR really makes me think about how we (medical professionals, especially those who work in Emergency departments) are expected to just move on immediately after a code.
Law enforcement is 🚫healthcare. Stop🛑sharing PHI with them. The only reason to provide PHI to LE is an imminent threat, a death, a court order, there's an adult victim of a crime, criminal activity during an offsite emergency. #EMS#NurseTwitter
If you had to leave a career in medicine today and take up another job based on your current set of skills, what would you do?
I’ve always thought I’d quite like to be the person that decides the soundtrack music in films/TV.
every day in the hospital i am AGHAST how folks with hx of drug use or sud are talked about, are treated, etc. truly we are so terrible. i just…don’t know how we live with ourselves as a profession when this happens all the time.
"Once you cross over into the kingdom of the sick, it’s easier to see that some problems classified as hospice fraud are really problems of the inadequate long-term-care system in this country."

So many conflicting thoughts as I read this great article by @AvaKofman. One thing that is for sure, we need more #palliativecare to address the "kingdom of the sick."
