Victor Martinez, a power-hitting catcher with Cleveland and Boston who went on to be the greatest DH in Tigers history, was one of the elite switch-hitters of his era. Over nearly 2000 games across 16 big league seasons, V-Mart batted .295 with 672 XBH and only struck out 73 times per 162 games.

To give you an idea of what a Professional Hitter he was, there were 23 plate appearances in V-Mart's career where he defied switch-hitting convention and batted RH against RH pitching. Clearly, he knew what he was doing, slashing .368/.478/.579 (1.057 OPS) with twice as many walks as strikeouts in those situations. Just one of those quirky little things that the game's most skilled batsmen can get away with. (Notably, he never defied convention in the other direction by going lefty-on-lefty.)

In any case, Martinez was a tremendous hitter and the AL MVP runner-up in 2014, but received just 1.6% of the vote on his first and only HOF ballot appearance this past year; needless to say, This Man Was Underrated™

According to police, Tina O. Tintor was the name of the Las Vegas woman who died with her dog in the wrecked and burned Toyota RAV4. Records show she lived several blocks from where the crash occurred on a busy thoroughfare in a residential area several miles west of the Strip.
