This is something that I went through in undergrad, and am still going through in graduate school. But even with straight As and active participation, professors are telling me I should quit my job to “focus” more. How will I support myself then?

This whole thread. Getting through graduate school as a single person with no financial support from a partner or family was ridiculously difficult. Colleagues who had supportive partners didn’t usually work additional jobs and could focus on classes/writing/dissertation.
