Every night, for as long as I can remember, I go outside and pray.

I don’t know exactly why, but I’ve always felt closer to God out there. Just standing under the sky, away from everything, talking to Him. No audience. No pretending. Just me and God.

And somewhere along the way I stopped simply believing in Him and started truly giving myself to Him.

That changed me.

When you finally open your heart and embrace God, you feel something that is almost impossible to explain. You feel Him. You know He is there. You know you are being heard.

I know some of you feel exactly what I’m talking about.

And if you don’t yet, maybe this is what you needed to hear tonight.

God is reaching for you.

You don’t have to be perfect. I sure as hell am not. You don’t have to have your life figured out. You just have to be willing to reach back.

His mercy is yours.

His grace is yours.

Open your heart and let Him in.

I wrote this tonight because I truly believe He wanted me to. Maybe someone out there needed to hear it. I don’t know.

There are times when you need to check up on the spiritual leaders who have impacted your life and poured into you. They are human too. They face challenges, get tired, and go through difficult seasons, but sometimes they keep smiling and pretending that everything is fine. Check on them. Ask how they are doing. Ask if there is anything they need, and if you are capable of helping, do so. Even if you cannot meet a physical need, ask them what they need from God so you can stand with them in prayer. Don’t only receive from those who pour into you. Learn to pour back into them too. Sometimes, the people who strengthen others also need someone to strengthen them.

You don’t have to be strong enough for God to choose you. When He chooses you, He gives you the strength to fulfill His purpose. Don’t disqualify yourself because you feel weak or unqualified. Surrender, obey, and trust His grace to equip you.
