@robbertleusink Private chapels belonging to sedes are not Churches. To be a Church it must be canonically erected.—they will be even more mad at me for saying that.
@JohnTraddington In the sede world this is CMRI. I might not like some of their ideas on ecclesiology or personalities but I will never berate them for going everywhere they are called to bring the sacraments. I don’t like everything the SSPX does either. As groups go, they do the most good.
I do not understand the inability to be specific and careful in our language about other Catholics. We should be as mild as we possibly can because we must make every excuse for our neighbor. Sometimes people are being stupid but sect, heretic, schismatic, etc. are specific terms
@IntegritasMag It’s not Protestant. The best you could say is ‘undeclared sect’ because we have no authority to name it as such. We merely withdraw from it due to the suspicion of it not being the Church.
@IncredPapist_ Sede here: The only group or individuals I’ve ever called schismatics are the Orthodox. I don’t use that for Catholics of any stripe. Heretic is reserved for as few as I cannot excuse; “has <specific> erroneous ideas” is probably my go-to term. Maybe “sectarian” once in awhile.
@exRhenum@TradCathKeng Funny cult that lets you come and go, brings people the sacraments, does not require submission, and doesn’t require you to believe in their response to the Crisis.
@Osarseph0 If a pope approves a devotion or grants an indulgence, you really don’t get an opinion. If you think that it is all still a game; you are probably just impious and need a more childlike faith.
@omnia_ad_jesum I believe it is entirely possible to not get all rosy about Thuc but still recognize the clear validity of some of his lines. However, I do think we need to take down the pictures of him on the walls of some chapels. We are happy that we have the sacraments but he wasn’t a hero.
@realsedepicante Steady there. We have a small number of whack sedes that believe diaper changing is offensive and immodest altogether and that it offends angels. —one of the top sede statements that I wish I could bleach from my mind.
@BringBackTradIG@TradCathKeng It’s possible to be neither Totalist or Privationist; you can just be sede. We can appreciate the good in each group without endorsement and speak out against the bad without writing them off. I wish that Williamson had more firsthand information, as in speaking to balanced sedes
@IncredPapist_ Well I thought you were unbaptized so it’s not like you are bound to either. As a sede though, I do agree that Canon Law is subject to reform or changes. There are changes that are legit in the ‘83 if they were given by a pope.
@poperespecter1 I don’t really care about applying a quote from Saint Augustine to a very complicated Crisis. Something is wrong and we need not jump to accusations of fellow Catholics nor use strong language about them. We will be judged by own own measure.
I was at an SSPX chapel recently and Fr. Pagliarani’s letter for the laity was read. If anything justifies ordination and consecrations in this Crisis, by any group, it is the love of souls and the desire to bring them the sacraments at all costs.
