hardest pill i had to swallow last year was learning that no matter how good you could be to someone‚ no matter how much you love them‚ they can & they will turn their back on you and there’s absolutely nothing you can do but suck it up & keep moving forward
if you knew how tough it was, and how long it took some people to recover their mental health, peace and happiness again, you'd understand why they shut their doors at the slightest sniff of toxicity – and why they're picky af about who they allow into their lives.
I had to go through this, I pointed it out and suddenly I’m the bad person. This was someone I truly cared about. I hope someday they know better. You do this and hurt people who truly care about you, it’s so sad.
I took two weeks off between undergrad and graduate school then one week between completing my PhD and starting my postdoc.
Why?
Because I can’t afford to not work. Some of us do not have the luxury to take breaks and when we talk about mental health and well being THIS IS IT.
Do you want to be right or do you want peace? The unfortunate fact is that, having both may not be possible. Also you may never get your moment of righteousness, why wait for it? Choose peace! What I know for sure is time is moving on and it’s our most valuable commodity, let go!
You know, a lot of people think that holding onto things that disempowered them is going to somehow magically turn it around. Release that notion and give up the hope that the past could have been any different and move on.
Letting go of energy that’s clouding your vision and holding you back. It’s a life practice that you ought to learn to free you in so many ways. It’s the fact that holding grudges against somebody who’s done you wrong or replaying and revisiting hurtful situations in your head.
Only weighs you down and prevents you from being who you’re meant to be right now. Because you’re still energetically holding onto the past. The energy that you put into constantly rewinding resentments. Why did they do that? Why did they say that to me? I didn’t deserve that etc
All of that only keeps you stuck. It will never change what happened. You gotta press stop and reject the urge to keep replaying those so that you can then fast forward into the now for yourself
