On Friday I received (another) rejection for an Early Career Research Fellowship. I was told they had received nearly 1,000(!) applications😳Since day1 of the PhD we are told the market is saturated, we must publish, & that only a tiny% of grads will secure a perm academic post..
It hit me today that universities were also in denial about a revolution unfolding in Cairo, and protests and tear gas being on campus as we were expected to teach as if life was normal. A decade, a different country and here we are again.
