Jesus does not call us to be “childish,” but “childlike.” Thus, we are to rely totally and completely on the Father’s love and with trust that he will protect us and grant what we truly need. Such a way of living will bring us “childlike” joy in Advent and always.

The example of St. James teaches what it means to be great. It is not found in worldly possessions, honors, or titles, but in our commitment to follow Jesus, no matter the cost; to share in his suffering; and to serve generously. With God’s grace, aim for greatness this day.
St. Thomas is known for “doubting.” It is a reminder that we should not get frustrated with our periods of doubt and uncertainty. In the midst of them, Jesus will show himself to us and, with his grace, we will be able to echo the words of Thomas: “My Lord and my God.”
