On the District Magistrate's orders, Jamui Sadar police launched a technical investigation into the viral video. With help from the cyber cell and intelligence units, police traced the victim students and recorded their statements at home in a strictly confidential and sensitive manner.

An FIR has since been formally registered at Sadar police station under the POCSO Act and relevant non-bailable sections of the BNS.
