DAY TWO OF SWIMMING FINALS
Hello again sports fans and welcome back inside the Olympic pool in Montreal as we get set for night two of the Canadian swimming trials.
Summer McIntosh is back in the pool tonight. Here’s what you need to know going into the evening.
Summer McIntosh loves swimming at home in Canada.
For four consecutive Canadian swimming trials she’s broken world records - Toronto, Victoria and now Montreal. This photo is after her first in 2023.
And she’s always thanked the fans at home for pushing her to the records.
Real blessing for Canada Soccer to have even hired Jesse Marsch
We as a program have to take youth soccer seriously
Of course, grassroots discussions will always take place, but in the meantime
We have to push towards qualifying to the 2028 Olympics
Few swimmers in history have held four long course world records at one time. It’s a short list.
Canada’s Summer McIntosh holds four — the 200m IM, 200m Fly, 400m IM, 400m Free.
She is in a class of her own in the swimming world right now.
Legendary coach Bob Bowman gives Summer McIntosh a hug here after the 200m butterfly world record.
It’s their first world record together.
Bob just told me he thought this particular record might have been untouchable. Not anymore. The Canadian took it down.
WORLD RECORD SUMMER MCINTOSH
SHE’S DONE IT IN MONTREAL
Canadian swimmer phenom Summer McIntosh takes down the longest standing women’s world record (6,101 days).
It’s an astounding 2:01.65 in the 200m butterfly. McIntosh now holds FOUR long course world records
Without Davies committing to the program the second he could (at 16!!), Canada would still be every good Canadian’s second option. He’s given us huge moments over the years. Very clearly not close to healthy right now. Sid knows this but wants the attention.
Canada used to be ranked 120th in the world in men's soccer, not even getting a sniff of the final round of World Cup qualifying. That was less than 10 years ago.
But now?
"We're finally a soccer country."

Isma is one of the kindest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting, and in my opinion, embodies what it means to represent Canada better than anyone.
Take a few minutes today to enjoy this piece 🇨🇦
Hello! Bonjour! It’s Ismaël here.
Thank you for the words of support, and for making me feel a part of this.
Canada, this is for you. https://t.co/q4lNJ5rjzv
Alistair Johnston was asked about the growth of soccer in Canada:
"The Women’s program has been amazing over the last 15 years giving momentum - now it’s about the men’s program saying can we push that forward...The best way to grow the game is to keep winning..there’s no better place to win than the World Cup.” #Canada #canmnt
