When an inactive account enters the deletion release phase, the backend fails to sync the availability lock across all regional nodes simultaneously.

A coordinated bot net had mass-reported their page, and the attackers demanded a $3,000 crypto ransom to "stop the attack". Meta's automated system fell for the fake reports and instantly disabled the account.

IF YOUR INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT GOT SUSPENDED, TRY THIS

one user claims they recovered their suspended account by avoiding the in-app appeal and completing the verification process in a browser instead

their tips were:

1. don't appeal through the Instagram app, use an incognito browser instead
2. if SMS codes don't arrive, try a phone number that has never been linked to your account
3. use the exact same photo as your profile picture for the selfie verification
4. make sure the date of birth on your account matches the one on your government ID

according to them, matching your DOB was the most important part and their account was restored shortly after submitting their ID

if you're stuck with a suspended account, it may be worth trying before giving up

META VERIFIED IS A SCAM

people's accounts are still getting suspended for no reason

right now there are only a few ways to try and get your account back

1. contact Meta support through Meta Verified and hope you get a real human
2. submit an appeal through Instagram or Facebook
3. file a complaint with a consumer protection agency or Attorney General

the problem is that none of these usually work

paying for Meta Verified to get better support is useless because all you'll get is an automated message saying “human support is at high volume”

people are even reporting Meta to the FTC, because their claimed "manual reviews" are often just AI or scripted responses instead of a real human review

meta needs to do something before more people lose access to their accounts for no reason. but it seems like they don't care
