ca1825 when the British Ship Mary Anne was burnt off the coast of Somaliland - historically the entirety of the sea was in those days called the Gulf of Berbera.

The moment one says "Colonisation divided Somalis", I stop listening to them.

They know nothing about our history.

Initially exclusive to Somaliland, the word "Somali" itself is a relatively new term.

We are known as the Berbaris and Zayla'ees and land of Punt.
