LB: Their run defense doesn’t make up for the coverage issues IMO. I want more Wiley & Bonner.
DB: Overall, I thought the DBs played well. OJ Frederique is probably our best CB.
DB: OJ just can’t stay healthy. Looks like the shoulder again. Hopefully he’s back for Notre Dame.

DE: Same as DT—dominant flashes but too many quiet stretches. Overall, good.
DE: Armando Blount really jumped out. I liked Lightfoot too, and Wilson to a lesser extent.
LB: My biggest concern. Smith & Toure are solid vs the run but struggle badly in coverage.

OL: SJ didn’t look good. Rodriguez snapped it well, but not much push. I want more Cantwell.
OL: I’m not panicking about the OL. Mirabal has earned my trust.
DT: Dominant at times, too quiet at others. Overall, I thought the DTs played well.

RB 3: I like Mallory over Pringle. He missed one cutback, but looked really good for a freshman.
TE: Lofton is moving better. Briggs, Mueller & Ruskavich make me feel good about the future at TE.
OL: Pancake looked like our best OL. I wasn’t impressed with the interior push.

WR: Malachi Toney is a BEAST! That almost goes without saying at this point.
RB: I think Jordan Lyle is our best RB. He just needs to stay out of the doghouse.
RB: CharMar looked good. Fletcher still concerns me. He misses opportunities and doesn’t have great vision.

QB thoughts: Mensah is a BEAST!
2: Nickel (partially) played with Miami’s 2s vs Stanford’s 1s. That matters. I need to see more.
3: My early Nickel take: limited ceiling, but a high floor. I’ll keep watching his development.
