@EddieComeaux funding should be used to implement academic programs or inclusivity events. Students should be the first priority. If having SRO’s is essential on campus they should receive the proper training first. We need to avoid causing more harm. #racialjustice
@OsegueraAguilar @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely I agree with you, advisors should be a resource available for them. Perhaps there should be advisors only for student-athletes since others are probably overwhelmed with everyone else in the university. #ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
its sad that colleges go to the length of lying about their graduation rates instead of finding ways to help their student athletes actually graduate. Colleges need to provide better resources to their athletes, especially minorities. #ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
@JANELYmena@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar I agree! There is so much pressure put on athletes to be the best that they put school aside and that is wrong. The "student" part of student-athlete should matter too! #ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
Student-athletes get a lot of recognition and bring attention to these universities & it’s not fair that their images & likeliness are not compensated! They deserve to receive some type of reward for their time and dedication, like work-study. @MisssNallely @rabea_qamar #Ucr150
@jessica_sacueza @MisssNallely @rabea_qamar I completely agree with you! I think student-athletes should be given full control of where they want to go. However, the NCAA stops them from experiencing new things due to all the consequences transferring comes with. #ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
I believe the NCAA’s transfer rule that requires athletes to sit out to adjust to their new environment is unfair. Student-athletes should be allowed to transfer to a different institution if its a better fit without fear. #ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
@mayraitzelsalas@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar I agree with you! There should be more education on the signs of a concussion because as mentioned in lecture symptoms don't appear until days after. This puts the athletes lives in danger since they are pressured to return to the game asap!
#ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
Concussion need to be taken more seriously due to the fact that symptoms can appear minutes, hours or even sometimes days after an impact. Athlete's health should come first instead of getting them back into the game before they're ready. @MisssNallely @rabea_qamar #ucr150
@EmilyRamelot @MisssNallely Hello Emily, I completely agree with you! Women sports are not valued as much as men. We see that in the way the media decides to broadcast them and the importance it gives each gender when talking about them. #ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
Title IX was implemented to establish equality between men and women. However, it is disappointing to see that women sports are still not represented enough in the media and paid the same as men!
#ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
Its important for student-athletes to have all the information necessary before they sign. Unfortunately, some get blinded by the excitement but its crucial to remember that these contracts take away power away from them which isn't fair .
@MisssNallely#ucr150
@rabea_qamar
We learned how student athletes are not compensated due to seeing their participation as an "avocation." I believe that is unfair and they should be able to take credit and have access to better resources. The NCAA needs to find alternatives. @MisssNallely @rabea_qamar #Ucr150
@BadajozSelena@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar I agree with you! I think not getting compensated enough is bad but not getting offered at least the resources necessary for their well-being is extremely unfair. I don't believe the resources at school are enough. @MisssNallely#Ucr150 @rabea_qamar
@floresdanielUCR@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar @helloJuJudy Daniel, I totally agree with you! I believe students deserve way more recognition and compensation! They work just as hard due to having to balance schoolwork, their personal life (jobs) and their athletic lifestyle. #Ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
I think it is unfair that the NCAA profits off of student-athletes while they are struggling to do their best off and on the field. I believe they deserve not only better compensation but representation from the NCAA since they are the image of most schools! #Ucr150
