Half the soybeans grown in America get exported to markets that are shrinking every year. China has a 10-year plan to stop depending on US imports entirely.

Almost half the corn grown in this country goes into ethanol. Goes into your gas tank. Does not feed a single person or a single animal.

The subsidized cropping system in the US is dramatically oversupplied. Farmers growing crops the market does not want. Losing $100 an acre on soybeans. Losing $50 to $100 an acre on corn.

And demanding bailouts to keep doing it.

Meanwhile, the US beef cow herd is the lowest it has been since 1950. Beef prices have tripled in five years. Baby calves at auction are bringing $1,500 a head.

A 1,000-acre soybean farm losing $100 an acre could convert to intensive cattle grazing for $300,000. One time. That same farm spends $300,000 every single year just to plant soybeans.

One is a lifetime investment. The other is an annual hole in the ground.

That breakdown from Palisades Gold Radio on YouTube lays it out plain. The math is not complicated.

I'd rather own land that feeds people than collect checks to grow what nobody needs.
