On the directive of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I visited Niger State today alongside my colleague, the Hon. Minister of Information and National Orientation, @HMMohammedIdris, to commiserate with the government and people of the state over the devastating floods that struck Mokwa Local Government Area.
Our visit followed an earlier on-the-spot assessment by the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), who briefed Mr. President on the tragic loss of over 150 lives, displacement of more than 3,000 persons, and extensive destruction of homes, roads, and critical infrastructure.
We were received by the Deputy Governor, Mr. Yakubu Garba, and assured the state government of the unwavering support of the Federal Government. President Tinubu conveys his heartfelt condolences and deep concern for all affected and has directed additional deployment of resources to support immediate relief efforts.
I also held discussions on areas of additional humanitarian interventions for the displaced, including long-term recovery. We are engaging international humanitarian and development partners to complement government efforts and bring lasting relief to our people in Mokwa.

Yesterday, we launched the Nigeria Talent Cities Initiative at DBI Oshodi in partnership with @FMCIDENigeria! This program will transform public infrastructure into digital campuses, aiming for 100K workspaces & 500K jobs by 2027. #DigitalNigeria#TalentCities
Yesterday, I had the privilege of joining the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, along with other distinguished officials, at the launch of the Skill-to-Wealth Program - a flagship initiative under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda. This transformative program is designed to empower Nigerians with practical, hands-on skills in agribusiness, solar installations, and automotive mechanics, with intensive 3-week training sessions being conducted nationwide.
At the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), we are proud to serve as a strategic partner in this impactful initiative. In line with our commitment to national development priorities, four of our campuses - South East, North East, North West, and South West - are being fully utilized to deliver this training to Nigerians across the country.
Yesterday’s event was hosted at our South West Campus in Lagos, and it was inspiring to witness the enthusiasm of the participants and the dedication of all stakeholders involved.
We remain committed to supporting initiatives that build capacity, create opportunities, and uplift communities - one skill at a time.
