It was 60 years ago today that the Texas Western Miners shocked the college basketball world with an historic victory over the vaunted Kentucky Wildcats to win the national championship.

On March 19, 1966, Don Haskins' squad defeated Kentucky, 72-65, becoming the first team ever to start five black players and win the national championship.
