Sherrod Brown is running ads blasting a Google data center in Ohio for driving up electric bills — but campaign finance records show he's taken $20,000 from Google's corporate PAC since 2008, plus thousands more from Google lobbyists who specifically lobby on permitting reform tied to data center expansion.

Two of those lobbyists — one who donated $3,500 in March alone, another who's given over $10,200 since 2017 — work for firms hired by Google to push permitting reform for grid reliability and energy affordability. The very issues Brown's ad attacks.

GOP strategist Mehek Cooke called it "Jekyll-and-Hyde politics," saying Brown has spent five decades selling himself as a working-class populist while his Washington money trail tells a very different story.
