🚨#BREAKING: Outrage is erupting in Charlotte NC after a Black woman who ran a RED LIGHT, hitting a 25-year-old White man out for a run, and DROVE AWAY while he DIED ON THE STREET...

...was sentenced to ONLY 30 DAYS in jail.

Yes, you read that right... THIRTY DAYS.

His name was Lance Sotelo.

Lance grew up in Dalton, Georgia, and was a cross-country MVP in high school.

He came to Queens University of Charlotte and ran cross country and track and field for SIX YEARS.

He was the student body president.

On January 14th, Lance was doing the thing he loved most, he was out for a run in Charlotte NC

At 5:47 in the evening, police say 28-year-old Q'Laundra Hood was ran a red light and she hit him, hard.

...and then she drove away.

She left him in the road and kept going.

Lance Sotelo died right there on the streets of Charlotte.
He never even made it to a hospital.

He didn't have life insurance, his family had to start a GoFundMe just to bury their son.

Hood turned herself in and pleaded guilty to felony hit-and-run and involuntary manslaughter.

And on Tuesday, a courtroom packed with Lance's family and friends watched the judge hand down the sentence.

30 days in jail. And probation.

Thirty days and $765 restitution.

🚨 ONE JUDGE JUST OVERRULED THE SUPREME COURT

Judge Allison Burroughs just blocked President Trump from ending Temporary Protected Status for Somali migrants.

SCOTUS already ruled lower courts don’t get to dictate this.

She did it anyway.
This isn’t a ruling.
It’s open defiance.

One unelected activist in a robe is trying to keep the border open against the President and the highest court in the land.

Impeach her and end the judicial coup.

Important to note that Jack Smith knew he had judges--including Beryl Howell and Jeb Boasberg--in his back pocket. They not only conducted zero oversight of his rogue operation, they quickly issued nondisclosure orders for several subpoenas including Howell's egregious NDO on Smith's demand for the president's Twitter data, which clearly violated Trump's executive privilege rights (as the DC appellate court noted after it was too late.)

One way to fix this is to revise the Stored Communications Act to require judges to perform more due diligence before authorizing an NDO. The judge should be required BY LAW to attach any findings of potential obstruction or threats to witnesses if the target is notified of the search--and certainly any evidence of the target representing a flight risk, as Howell did in the Twitter case (only to pull it back before the documents went public.)

This--along with impeachment of those judges--can put an end to this in the future. But unfortunately we've seen no action on any front to hold the judges, who are ultimately responsible for conducting oversight of these matters, accountable.

NEW: Senate Judiciary Chairman Charles Grassley today asks Chief Justice John Roberts to address public comments made to the NYT by Judge Patrick Schiltz and 6 other judges last week related to immigration enforcement.

Grassley:

"More than half a dozen judges in Minnesota provided comments for an article about immigration enforcement. This included a 90-minute interview given by one judge.

One judge criticized the Trump administration and the Justice Department’s efforts as a 'grave threat to the rule of law.'

In another instance, a judge characterized the Justice Department’s actions as resulting from 'incompetence.'

These statements are unacceptable.

When judges publicly criticize government officials...it undermines public confidence in the courts. And it destroys the perception of impartiality upon which the justice system relies.

Make no mistake, all Americans are entitled to disagree with government officials. That includes judges too. But with great power comes great responsibility.

Judges wield the power of a co-equal branch of government – to faithfully and impartially uphold the Constitution. With that comes the responsibility to preserve the integrity of the judiciary.

Federal judges should be issuing opinions and orders in accordance with the law, not giving quotes based on their personal views to the New York Times.

I hope the Chief Justice addresses this issue. My oversight will continue."
