🇮🇳 NIRDPR Celebrates the 80th Independence Day
@NIRDPR_India, Hyderabad, celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India on 15 August 2026 with patriotic spirit and enthusiasm, bringing together faculty, staff, students and training programme participants.
In the absence of Ms Rohini R. Bhajibhakare, IAS, Deputy Director General, @NIRDPR_India, the National Flag was hoisted by Prof. @JyothisNird, Professor & Head, Centre for PG Studies and Distance Education (CPGS & DE), NIRDPR.
The DDG’s message highlighted NIRDPR’s contributions to rural development through training, capacity building, research, consultancy and knowledge dissemination, and called for collective efforts towards making NIRDPR a Centre of Excellence and contributing to Viksit Bharat @2047.

🎓 @NIRDPR_India welcomed PGDRDM Batch-24 (2026–27) & PGDM(RM) Batch-9 (2026–28) through an Induction Programme organised by CPGS&DE.
Students interacted with faculty & staff, gaining insights into NIRDPR's interdisciplinary research environment, academic ecosystem, and rural development mission.

The Capacity Building Programme for Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs), jointly organised by the National Biodiversity Authority (NBA), @NIRDPR_India , and @kilathrissur on 22 May 2026 at KFRI Sub Centre, Chandakkunnu, Nilambur, Kerala, was successfully completed with the participation of around 80 BMC members and local representatives.
The programme covered important themes, including Biodiversity Governance, People’s Biodiversity Register (PBR), Institutional Architecture of the Biological Diversity Act, and Access & Benefit Sharing (ABS) under the BD Act, 2002 and 2023 Amendments. Experts from KFRI, KSBB, NIRDPR, and KILA led technical sessions and discussions to strengthen grassroots biodiversity governance and community participation in conservation.

On 9 June 2026, the National Biodiversity Authority, in collaboration with NIRDPR, Hyderabad and the Karnataka State Biodiversity Board, organized a Capacity Building Programme for Biodiversity Management Committees in Mysuru, Karnataka.
The programme covered key topics such as the recent amendments to the Biological Diversity Act, the roles and responsibilities of BMCs, biodiversity governance, and the documentation of People's Biodiversity Registers.
This was the third programme in the series. To date, nearly 200 BMC representatives have been trained through these capacity-building initiatives. #KSBB
The Government of Uttar Pradesh has officially notified Ken Nala in the Gulra area of Shravasti district as a Biodiversity Heritage Site (BHS) under the provisions of the Biological Diversity Act, 2002. This notification was announced on 4th June 2026 #BHS#NBA
