@ReplayModeYT There are great automation tools that do not use generative AI whatsoever (like machine learning), so it’s unfortunate they’re being misrepresented under a vague “AI” label.
@Em8erCummz This is literally coercion from the CFO. It’s one thing to demand more money, like it’s a business I get it… But it’s another thing to do it BY threatening the leader with a moral ultimatum.
You are a terrible CFO if you can only achieve goals through being a coercive asshole.
The gaming industry is the most successful entertainment industry in the history of our species and it is being continually run into the ground by the greediest humans in the history of our species.
@JakeSucky Very refreshing to hear this from a gaming CEO. The human touch is so important in games, and generative AI can tarnish that human touch, even if a person is behind it. Like he said, players can FEEL the AI (lack of humanity), even if they can’t put their finger on it.
@LukeCB14 Here’s my ideal (very hypothetical) scenario for Bungie:
- Marathon is successful and provides years of runway, supported by small/medium team.
- Main team works on D3, takes 3-5 yrs.
- Small team closes out D2 with Fate Saga (2-3 yrs) and Age of Triumph sendoff (1-2 yrs).
@tomwarren I have zero confidence in any meaningful improvements coming to Windows. These pain points stem from Microsoft’s strategy of “force Windows users into the broader Microsoft ecosystem.” Giving users a choice will hurt areas of the business that benefit from the lack of choice.
@TomOliver3D This is literally why Microsoft is pushing UE5 so heavily. They see passionate full-time developers as an unnecessary expense, so they hire tons of short-term contractors to save money in the long run. Contractor turnover is high, so they’ll do anything to reduce training time.
@DestinyBulletn Whether you agree or not, many people view crossovers as cheap cash grabs or corny advertising stunts. Star Wars and Destiny have similar themes, so this one somewhat got a pass. However, an errant crossover that doesn’t mesh well could really damage the Destiny franchise.
@H8KUcom@Pirat_Nation PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo also take 30% of all game revenue on their storefronts. The 30/70 split is pretty much industry standard, except for Epic Games only taking 12%.
Kids who were born when Skryim released (2011) will be finishing high school when the sequel finally releases… There’s an entire generation of kids becoming adults that have never experienced a new Elder Scrolls game.
@MintBlitz I don’t think they’d reveal a new Halo game at the World Championships. I’d love to be proven wrong, but I feel like they’ll save that for a bigger stage (like Game Awards or something of that size).
