@JoshDavis1465@ScooterMcgilli1 As a Pats fan, I would have paid that exact price for Waddle (pick 30 in this draft + 3rd), think Dex price is fair (given this draft), and think the Bills got fleeced. I would not pay a first for AJ unless this year’s 31. Just my opinion, we’ll see what the market is.
@Tonysmarkettips@Neil_Bloch Don’t ask don’t tell still requires you not to tell. Fact that coaches have to hide it doesn’t mean the NFL is looking for it or punishing anything but egregious tampering. Using reporters to influence public opinion on a player is just business as usual in the league.
@flaquaticfan If a female doctor lost their license for sleeping with a male patient would you be pushing for the patient to lose their job because “you can’t punish the woman without punishing the man”?
@flaquaticfan Why are we being intentionally obtuse? Men/women are 100% held to different standards (just look at the discourse on this story), but given their respective jobs, her facing professional consequences while he doesn’t is a terrible example to illustrate that point.
@Chrisdyer777@PatMcAfeeShow@AdamSchefter Shefty also reported that a deal was closer than people think between Eagles/Rams (close enough that he was “waiting to report it”), and specifically stated that he did not know if Russini was “on that,” but sure, let’s just pretend all the smoke on AJ is coming from Russini.
@Tonysmarkettips Would be way more believable if you thought Vrabel pushed her to vote Stafford. You think Vrabel in his heart of hearts really wanted his franchise QB to win MVP in just his second year?
@ScottKacsmar Why don’t you pick a lane? If reporters are sleeping with sources to get information, it’s to report that information (which would then make it public). Unless you think reporters are just in the business of trading secrets for no purpose?
@TheFFRealist Not saying there aren’t double standards, but your example is her being sidelined and him sidelining himself. Not really proving your point…
@ScottKacsmar Ah yes, a subject trying to get a reporter to say nice things about them, totally unheard of and unethical. And lol at the Ime example. His had an HR element, but many still wondered at the time whether Cs needed to cut ties if the conduct wasnt career-jeopardizing (it wasn’t).
@Atownatx@Spreadapedia You don’t win by votes, you win by points, and Vrabel won by 63 points, which is the equivalent of 6 first place votes or 12 second place votes. But it is fun seeing Eagles fans have nothing better to do than argue that this cost Liam Coen COTY.
@Atownatx@chrispy167@NCAA@NFL Yes, you absolutely can leak fake information to reporters and leverage your relationships with them to influence public perception (it happens all the time). Adding sex doesn’t change that.
@ShowtimeJonny25 @RealTalkWithMJ1 lol, Philly fans really mad other fans trust Howie to act in the interests of his team instead of his own; we’re literally trying to tell you Howie’s not dumb enough to prioritize his self image over the team (like Jerry Jones would) and you’re like “no, he is that dumb”
@MaverickPep@SearchingHomer@BCameronNFL lol, you are delusional if you think Howie saw a news report that the Pats felt Eagles were overvaluing AJ and went “oh shit, we need to lower our price” - either that or you just don’t have much faith in Howie
@SearchingHomer@BCameronNFL I love how Howie is supposed some genius, shrewd GM (he is in my opinion, by the way) yet Eagles fans are convinced he’d turn down an offer that would otherwise be in the best interests of the team just for optics or to save face.
@reallsteeldos@CaptainBUM4022@BCameronNFL But how? Like media reports that AJ wants out or that no teams but the Pats are interested might lower the public perception of his value, but hard to see how it impacts Howie’s negotiations with other GMs; they obviously don’t need to rely on media reports about themselves.
@thephandalorian@Savageboston@AlbertBreer@NBCSBoston If Vrabel tried to recruit AJ by text, that’s tampering. I have a hard time believing Vrabel would be on TV admitting to texting AJ all the time if those were the texts. That has nothing to do with this story. Perpetuating AJ gossip and drama is not tampering…
