When a**holery is ascendant, being kind is rebellious. Do a kind act today. Volunteer in your community. Support someone in need. Building community is good for you, for your mental health, for your neighbours, and for building a bulwark against nihilist political movements.

All that’s to say, take care of the family and community around you. Show them love, compassion and solidarity. Cause things aren’t looking up larger systems.
Reading and engaging with politics over two decades in three countries taught me one thing:
You don’t compromise with bigots. You don’t appease them. You give into them a little bit and they’ll be emboldened to take more and more.
Only way to deal with bigots is to crush them.
@maxfawcett I think the fundamental problem is that US politics cloud over Canada so much that Canadians treat their elections like we're electing a president.
@maxfawcett I don't get Canadians' willful lack of understanding on how a parliamentary democracy is supposed to work.
It's simple: Party with the most seats takes first crack at commanding the house's confidence. If they can't, second place party can try. If no one can, new elections.
@maxfawcett Quebec did it first… and in the process slowed its growth, lowered its productivity and ended Montreal’s dominance as the country’s business hub. Freeeeeedooooommmm!!!!1!!
@ihsansenocak Sanki sizi bilmiyoruz. Küçük yerlerde kız okulları açıp, kızlarını karma okullara göndermeye devam eden ailelere baskı yapacaksınız, “kız okulu varken karma okula göndermek mümine yakışmaz” diyeceksiniz, o da olmazsa imalı laflar edeceksiniz. Karma eğitim fiilen bitsin amacınız.
This is not the way to deal with an issue that is killing hundreds of Albertans each month. It’s dehumanizing to people who struggle with addiction. Completely, utterly unacceptable.
I was doing some reading on drug poisonings in Alberta and one thing I keep noticing is just how disgusting Government of Alberta’s public statements on the matter are.
They are flippant, unserious and lazy. They insist on failed approaches, show no learning or compassion.
What do we know about the long-term health impacts of constantly inhaling wildfire smoke throughout the summer, every single year? Asking for a province.
