One Silicon Valley foundation (Fund for a Better Future) gave over $2 million to TDIP in 2017. Norman Lear, a Hollywood producer, also contributed via a related Jones nonprofit (Advance Democracy, Inc.) A network of wealthy liberal donors financed Jones’s operation to extend the Trump–Russia collusion narrative, keeping Fusion GPS and Steele on the payroll after the election
Hoffman was a significant backer of Integrity First for America (IFA), a liberal nonprofit launched in late 2017 that initially planned to "probe" Trump’s business ties . IFA’s 2018 tax filings show a $620,000 contribution to the legal defense fund of Fusion GPS (specifically to Bean LLC, Fusion’s parent company). A Hoffman-backed group helped pay Fusion GPS’s mounting legal bills as the firm faced libel suits and congressional scrutiny over the Steele dossier. Hoffman’s money sustained Fusion GPS’s ability to continue its anti-Trump operations. Simpson and Fritsch later acknowledged receiving support from “a few donors” to cover Fusion’s legal expenses.

Hoffman-funded New Knowledge was working closely with Fusion GPS around the same time, even contributing to a Senate Intelligence Committee study on Russian social-media interference. Hoffman-funded entities also spawned misleading Facebook ads and news sites targeting Republicans in 2018
