New Year’s (Eve) Resolution: play a New Year’s Eve show every year from now on to be doin what you love at midnight and no need to worry about a midnight kiss! #lifehack#protip
8. Take. Care. Of. Yourself. At the end of the day, nobody knows what’s best for you but y o u. Try to learn how to guide yourself as you grow and change, learn what’s good and bad for you. Make 2018 a year of growth, positivity, and learning.
7. Let go of unnecessary hate/loathing/jealousy. Stop comparing yourself to others and learn to support the people around you. Positive energy attracts more positive energy, and those who are jealous of your positive energy, you don’t need.
6. Make habits early in the year. Get your sleep schedule back on track. Show up for class/work on time by giving yourself more time in the morning to wake up and get your thoughts together. Habits are much harder to keep than to break, but the routine part will come eventually.
5. Any health/fitness goals you make should be based in what your body and mind can handle together. Stop caring so much about the number on the scale and more about how working out actually makes you feel. Find a class/sport/activity that makes you happy long term.
4. Stop saying bullshit like “I don’t really care about politics” as an excuse for not educating yourself. If you don’t deal with injustice on the daily (read: you’re white) and you are not actively fighting injustice, you are contributing to the problem. Speak up. Do better.
3. Think of some long term goals for the new year and make a list of some of the baby steps you can take to get there. Ex., I want to put out another EP in 2018, so I should try to write a couple songs a week and see what I like best to have song options to choose from later on.
2. Look at the people you value in your life. Do they uplift you? Support you? Make you happy? Keep em. Do they make you a worse version of yourself? Do they make you unhappy? Cut them out of your life sooner rather than later.
1. Put your mental health above all of your goals. Any “resolutions” that don’t build you up, change you for the better, or are just quick fixes to bigger problems, get rid of em.
