I'm breaking my Twitter hiatus to show off the fun, spooky writing activity my classes did today for Halloween! We did a 👻ghost story👻contest and it was so, so much fun and a nice break from the end of semester monotony. Thread to follow!
I read the stories out loud at the end, but I compiled all the stories into a Google doc so students can read them all. Then, they vote on the weirdest, funniest, and spookiest stories. Winners in each category get a prize!
Life gets a LOT busier when you are teaching more students than you ever have in your life. But these classes are GREAT! Such an awesome group of students. Anyway, back to paper feedback and disappearing from Twitter for another month ✌️
If a show was released today where a disabled girl dominated 90% of fights she was in, was never a love interest to anyone, and actually taught the male protagonist 25% of his combat skillset, they’d call it woke propaganda.
Anyway, her name is Toph.
This is just a reminder to thank your department admin staff because those guys will literally save your ass a million times over! They’re the real MVPs 😎
I had to take a long break from Twitter with everything going on in my life, but I finally have some good news to share. This fall, I will be a Visiting Assistant Professor at University of Cincinnati! I'm excited to continue working with such a great group of students. 😊
This may sound strange, but I'm kind of grateful that I am not mourning while also trying to finish my PhD. I truly don't know how people finish anything big and labor intensive while grieving. I'm just a knot of tears and unpredictable emotions.
Tonight I was eating the most delicious grilled cheese that I made and I was enjoying life until I took a bite and some of the pepper jack cheese slingshots right into my eye, and that’s a prime representation everything good that happens in my life.

All 3 of my sisters have been in my Snapchat best friends list for a long time and I love it. There’s no better people to keep close in your life like your siblings
Thank you so much for the condolences, kind words, and donations to the GoFundMe. It’s truly overwhelming how many people have come out to support us. I was honored to write my brother’s obituary and I think he would love that I wrote it for him. https://t.co/HNHwryt2aE
There’s so much to deal with since he died in Colorado and my parents live in Michigan. To help my parents, I set up a GoFundMe that people can donate to or share if they feel compelled. Thank you. https://t.co/TW7uoSH5BX
Hey everyone. I know I haven’t tweeted in a long time, but I have quite a few friends I only communicate with on here and I have some sad news. On Friday, I lost my little brother in a motorcycle accident. He was 26. I feel like there’s a hole punched in my stomach.
Writing and talking about him is the only thing that helps me get through this. He was such a goofy, fun, kind, sensitive guy. My family feels incomplete without him. We are coping in the best way we can, but this is a loss we never expected to experience. It’s devastating.
