the truman show is a striking allegory for the captive orcas raised at seaworld. seeing footage of the orca shows (which are no longer legal) I feel this bittersweet guilt knowing how much they suffered but still being in awe of what they can do, just like the truman show had countless viewers who cheered when he escaped. christof claims to know truman better than he knows himself, just like we claim to know whether or not a wild animal is "releasable" or not. the ocean is unexplored for a reason; it should stay that way.
