@JuJuGran0304 The readings throughout the course allowed for such insightful knowledge like this, and it's so cool to think about it in our daily lives!
@shawnllee I loved how interactive this class was, as we commented on each others posts, blogs, and peer reviewed. I was nervous because of the online format, but I got insightful feedback from both my peers and the professor.
@VinayRaja_UC In the start, I thought I knew the process of close reading but through these activities, I was able to go into more detail. The steps that the close reading assignments included made me think and research on my own rather than just commenting, which helped me understand clearly.
@Dereklzs888 This process was so interesting to me, as I was able to transfer difficult information into a fun article for people to read. There is so much character that can be included that it makes it a delightful experience while readers learn.
@gin_giselle I agree Giselle! Learning so much about helping these animals was so heartbreaking yet insightful. Theres many changes we can advocate for through social media, and I become so aware of the resources and actions to take.
@KaitlynMer04 I loved using WIX during this class because now I feel like I am a pro at it, and it is such a useful tool that I could use for future projects!
Finally, from my peers, I learned about different issues that animals, such as penguins, face everyday. From oil spills to climate change, we are aware of the negatives they have to endure, as well as resources that can help make their lives safer and easier. #WhatIlearnedinWR60
Especially now in the 21st century, it is important that multimedia platforms allow for advocacy of different issues. Social media can help educate and give resources on many topics, and allows for connecting with different organizations. #WhatIlearnedinWR60
As I gathered information on puppy mills, I learned that paying attention to signs and treatment of animals is a big way to shut down puppy mills, and help advocate for safe conditions. #WhatIlearnedinWR60
Before WR60, I didn't know what a scicomm article was. Now, I know how much valuable information they can give to non scientist. I can learn much more about scientific topics when a research article seems difficult to comprehend. #WhatIlearnedinWR60
Throughout this course, there were many valuable things I learned, such as the use of Chat GPT for finding issues that dogs face, as well as resources. A few key words can prompt ideas to write an entire essay.

A big misconception when buying a pet is the cheaper option is getting it straight from a breeder, when in reality, animal shelters are most cost affective and safer. #UCanimals

@gin_giselle I totally agree. Before this class, I did not know the dangers of puppy mills and how much of an unsafe environment it is. Educating people on the issues is very important!
@VinayRaja_UC I think this idea is very important as many people are not educated nor realize that there are wolves in their area. I feel like wolves are thought of in a negative way, so this would really help!
A counterargument for puppy mills & shutting them down would be the aftermath for dogs removed. When mills are shut down, all dogs get sent to animal shelters/humane orgs that affect their abilities to provide resources + financial costs. #UCanimals https://t.co/sLBQZXx0k8
Be knowledgeable about which shelters/breeders are puppy friendly. Doing research and identifying safe suppliers before making purchases can make a big impact. One quick way of finding safe stores, text "PUPPY" to 30644 to find stores near you. #UCanimals https://t.co/KFSg1fyQYr
There are steps to stop puppy mills from continuing to breed. The main solution is being aware of the negatives & being a voice for the pups. When advocating online or to friends/family, it is important to educate on safe alternatives. #UCanimals

Another way of forcing a change on puppy mills is voting for legislation that puts bans and stronger sentences on those who participate. Voting on tougher legal repercussions can stop breeders from committing these crimes. #UCanimals

It is important to know what the best solutions are to help your pet's anxiety, so these are natural remedies that can be used before the extremes that medication can bring. (Solutions start at 3:00) #UCanimals
