I met a sister sitting alone in the masjid after Taraweeh.
Everyone else had already left.
She was staring at her phone… but not using it.
So I asked gently,
“Are you waiting for someone?”
She smiled a little and said,
“No… I’m trying to stop waiting.”
That answer stayed with me. ❤️‍🩹

She told me she had been talking to a brother for almost a year.
Not officially.
Not haram exactly.
But not clear either.
“We both cared,” she said.
“But every day I felt like I was guessing my own future.”

I asked her the question most people would ask.
“So why didn’t you just move on?”
She laughed softly.
“Because when you love someone… leaving isn’t the hardest part.”
Then she said something honest.
“The hardest part is believing Allah might have written someone better.”

She told me Ramadan made everything clearer.
“Outside Ramadan, I could ignore the confusion.”
“But when you’re praying every night… making du’a… asking Allah for barakah…”
You start noticing the things that disturb your peace.
And pretending becomes harder.

She said the thing that hurt her most wasn’t losing him.
It was the constant anxiety.
Overthinking messages.
Wondering if another sister would appear.
Feeling attached but never secure.
“That’s when I realized something,” she said.
“Peace is one of the signs of naseeb.”

During the last 10 nights she made a different du’a.
Not the one she used to make.
Before, she prayed:
“Ya Allah let him be mine.”
But on Laylatul Qadr she whispered something else.
“Ya Allah… if he’s written for me, bring him in a way that protects my heart.”
“And if he’s not… remove this attachment.”

Months later something interesting happened.
The brother came back.
But this time differently.
With clarity.
With intention.
With his family involved.
And she told me something beautiful:
“Sometimes Allah doesn’t remove the person.
He removes the confusion.”
