Met the Forest Fencing Committee at my office this evening for a brief on the ongoing fencing project of the Kakamega Forest ecosystem.

The initiative is bringing together various partners including the County Governments of Kakamega and Vihiga, @KeForestService, @KWSKenya, @NETFUNDkenya, @MPESA_FDN, among other stakeholders.

The successful completion of Phase I covering 17 kilometers, initiated in February 2023 now paves way for the launch of Phase II which will cover 34 Kilometres for both Kakamega and Vihiga Counties.

We have collectively raised Ksh. 90 million for this project.

This evening, I have hosted the County Assembly Committee on Labour, Social Services, Culture, Youth, and Sports, led by the Chair Hon. Modesta Auka (Mahiakalo) and Vice Chair Hon. Anthony Mix (Sinoko).

Our discussion centered on the ongoing fresh vetting of "Kazi Mashinani" applicants. We have completed the vetting for Likuyani and Lugari Sub-counties. My commitment is to expedite this process to swiftly empower the underprivileged in our society.
