@nilshomer How critical do you see the 'expert in a compiled lang' being?
Plenty of Python, dabbling interest in Rust, just haven't found a project to sink my teeth into.
@AdamLeGrave @SpoutLore That makes two of us then. I've had to find other podcasts to occupy the mind while running like @weopenat6 since I'm all caught up, but @SpoutLore always jumps to the top when there's a new episode.

Out side of using BaseSpace, is there any kind of common infrastructure people are using for managing BCL2FASTQ across multiple instruments for Illumina NGS? I can certainly roll my own, but why reinvent the wheel if I don't need to...
@convexity150@xkcd At a certain point (waaaaaay before this happens) it makes more sense to code up a custom function in VBA. Much easier to debug, maintain, and version control.
@RPDeshaies All of those (and more) are things I've learned from @SpoutLore and @OtherBothers and have made an effort to incorporate in sessions I GM now.
@RPDeshaies Paint broad strokes of a fantastic world, ask the players to help you fill in the details.
Play to find out- If a player fails feel free to ask them exactly what goes wrong. Same for success.
Have plot directions that move in the background, but don't force them on your players.
@RPDeshaies Essentially give the players greater agency in helping define and describe the world their characters inhabit. This can lead to a greater player investment in the game while at the same time reducing your workload as the GM.
