I'm trying out Grok Build on Toby and am seeing some pretty good results so far. Mostly documentation related changes but i'm going to work up to more complex code changes and see how it does

AI can absolutely make people faster, but faster is not the same thing as more productive. The real value comes from using it in ways that play to its strengths while also designing around its weaknesses. I wrote a bit about where AI actually helps, where it gets muddy, and why the real question is whether it reduces the total amount of human effort required:

I’ve been working on a plugin architecture for Toby (https://t.co/CVsiMehQ3W) built around a CLI-based protocol.
The idea: keep the tool-style contract we see in protocols like MCP, but map it onto local CLI inputs and outputs instead of assuming HTTP-first execution.
Plugins expose commands, receive structured input, and return structured results, giving local tools a predictable interface while still feeling native to the terminal.
It’s an attempt to bridge two worlds: the composability of HTTP-based tool execution frameworks and the practicality of local-friendly CLI protocols.
Shipped an experiment in local-first personal AI assistants: Toby.
Runs fully on your machine (macOS), with deep system integration via macOS APIs + a background listener for audio/system events.
Connects external services (Gmail, Slack, Todoist, Apple Mail/Calendar, Azure AD, Jira) while maintaining persistent memory, custom personas, reusable skills, and cron schedules.
All in a terminal-native CLI. No cloud middleman for core operation.

I'm looking for people who can help me beta test the platform and help shape it as an alternative to other platforms that are subject to advertising, unwanted AI consumption and vendor lock-in. If you're interested in supporting this project, join and send me your feedback!
A request to all #artists and #art makers who want a place to share and manage their portfolios in an open, free and ad-free online community. Learn more about CreateSpot here: https://t.co/iNPTD4piJD.
CreateSpot now provides an easy way to cleanup physical artwork that was photographed and stored digitally. It cleans up things like photographic artifacts like ambient shadow, discoloration, skew, etc. https://t.co/0HUMR6BrAF #art#artshare
